DISCOVERED gets inspired by British Punk Rock for FW17 Collection

Designers Tatsuya Kimura and Sanae Yoshida just introduced their 2017 fall/winter collection at Tokyo Fashion Week for DISCOVERED. The range takes on a military aesthetic appeal meshed with British punk rock, and gives the silhouettes a more luxury high fashion touch. The duo were inspired by the British rock group Primal Scream and their 2000 album “XTRMNTR.” The collection uses a unique variety of tech fabrics, tailored silhouettes, directional outerwear designs, and creative knits. The silhouettes also alternates from blacks, greys, blues, burgundy and orange to create a vibrant but bold range. There are many standouts from the runway but some of the most attractive pieces are the massive puffer jacket and the textured beige hoodie.

Check out some of the runway photos from TFW above!

Check out Imtayaz Qassim's FW17 Lookbook

Imtayaz Qassim's latest lookbook for 2017 fall/winter collection takes on a minimal look in an natural outdoors setting. The collection is full of cold-weather silhouettes that are military-inspired. The range includes jackets, hoodies, tees and trousers. The use of monochromatic colors with a hint of vibrant colors featured deep black and stone greys. Standout items include the down jacket with Imtayaz Qassim branding on its back portion, loose-fitting joggers with front zip pockets and a mock neck tee emblazoned with a floral pattern. The designer clearly took on an unconventional muse on wardrobe essentials.

This collection pays respect for Harun al-Rashid — the fifth caliph of the Abbasid dynasty in Baghdad. “Harun al-Rashid was one of the greatest caliph’s in world history. He was known for bringing together the greatest creative and scientific minds, as well as leaders from all religions and created an arena where men could discuss and learn from one another, a place of intellect, peace and innovation,” the designer said himself. “This peaceful coming together of religions and race is a forgotten ancient history that is vital to a more stable and secure world. I grew up in a bi-cultural home so this clash of cultures is part of who I am and in turn impacts and inspires everything I do, its this story I want to explore through my collections.”
