#MadeinDC: Leafyhead LLC

In honor of the launch of #MADEINDC program by Think Local First and Small Business Development Program, MITD has decided to highlight local businesses that are a part of the program: businesses that design, make/produce, and/or assemble products in the District of Columbia.

Think first DC and DC Small business started the #MadeinDC Program as a response to the momentum and growth of the Maker and creative economy in Washington, DC. The Made in DC Program will function as a citywide campaign and platform, creating opportunity for Makers to come together for resource and experience sharing, as well as function as a conduit and messenger between makers and local government.

This week Made in the District is featuring Leafyhead as the local business of the week!

Created in August of 2009 Leafyhead Lotions and Potions is a "field to face" product line. Leafyhead offers a variety of creations from creams and lotions, salves and balms, bath salts and milks to spritzers, all of which are all-natural and chemical-free.

The majority of the healing herbs used in Leafyhead's products are locally & organically grown in Washington, DC by herbalist Tricia McCauley, who also formulates and creates the products. Each product is hand-made in small batches and created to support your body by using the gentle healing power of herbs.

The base for most of their products is almond oil infused with chamomile flowers. As noted on their website, chamomile has been proven to reduce inflammation and to support tissue healing. Herbalist Tricia McCauley grows, harvests, dries and infuses the chamomile flowers in almond oil. Leafyhead's lotions and creams are created without glycerin so they are not greasy but instead are dense, so a little bit goes a long way.

Leafyhead products contain no unnecessary ingredients and no harsh chemicals. Their scents are created using only pure essential oils and all their ingredients are fully disclosed, which can be read on their website.

Shop Leafyhead products on Etsy or in person at Marcella Kriebel Art & Illustration in NE, and 3 Stars Brewing Company in NW.
