Big Chief, a recently opened bar located in the heart of Ivy City, fuses New Orleans spirit and tastes with Brooklyn swag. Named after the Mardi Gras Native Americans, Big Chief is operated by Geoff Dawson and Peter Bayne of Penn Social and Highline RxR.
Previously the building of a 1970's roofing company, Big Chief contributes a refreshing enthusiasm to the DC area with live music, Motown on Mondays, happy hour specials every Thursday + Friday, NOLA spirit, dancing, cheap beers, and three distilleries next door, leading a new wave era to the DC restaurant and bar scene.
Although Big Chief does not have its own kitchen, customers are able to order smoked fish and other snacks from Ivy City Smokehouse (located around the corner). Rooftop cookouts are expected throughout the summer and the owners plan to work with food trucks from Union Kitchen restaurant incubator in the future.
