Thanks to Grassroot suport and people dedicated to seeing change, DC has declared their campaign to raise minimum wage to $15, a victory!
Mayor Muriel Bowser introduced the legislation to raise minimum wage earlier this year. If all went well, DC natives would have seen a raise in their pay by 2020. However Mayor Bowser signature yesterday evening in the middle of a Columbia Heights plaza, proved that the fight wouldn't be dragged on.
Along with receiving high praises from a handful of progressive groups, President Obama also commended the Mayor and the DC council for making this change occur.
Strength in numbers and the effort people offer to the cause, has proven itself effective once again. . Consequently, the district is on it's way to being one of the most labor friendly cities in the country.
