Iconic musician and actor Prince has died at the age of 57.
The singer's death was confirmed by a representative Thursday afternoon, according to the Associated Press. He was found unresponsive in an elevator at his home, Paisley Park, in Minnesota.
Prince was a genre-bending and defining artist who was considered a prodigy and superstar guitarist with unmatched musical talent. The seven-time Grammy winner and international sex symbol was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and continued to make music and break down barriers until his death.
Fans and the music community mourned Prince and his prolific and innovative career, which started in the late 1970s and spanned four decades, producing hit singles like "Purple Rain," "Kiss" and "When Doves Cry."
