Yep, you read it right. One of the top movie/show binging programs is raising up their prices this summer. How much? Well, about $2. So those paying the good ‘ol $7.99 a month are now going to be upgraded to paying $9.99 starting this May, which according to studies will affect 17 million subscribers. Not that much you might think but it does leave you wondering what’s going on here? Are we getting more for our buck? Well…no, but with the steady success of Netflix over the years (starting in just 2008), a little bump of their prices shouldn’t be much of a surprise (I mean, hey, we all love Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and all those other Netflix original series). So if you’re not feeling this price increase, no worries, Netflix has made a statement that all members impacted by this increase will get an email notifying them and allowing them to either keep or cancel their subscription. But I would say stay with good ‘ol Netflix because it’s still cheaper than its competitors such as Hulu, HBO Now, Showtime etc. So watch out for these price increases in May!
