At last, The National Museum of African American History and Culture is scheduled to open on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 24.
This museum will be the first of it's kind, as it is the first museum dedicated strictly to the documentation of African American life, art, history, and culture. Museum artifacts will include aHarriet Tubman collection, Black Fashion Museum collection, Chuck Berry's red convertible, Emmett Till's casket and more.
The opening of the museum will be a weeklong celebration with an outdoor celebration, a day where the museum is open for 24 full hours, and a ribbon cutting ceremony appropriately led by the nation's first black president, Barack Obama.
