Contributor Corner Shines Its Spotlight on Bitches Who Brunch

By Loren Nebrich

Here at Made In The District, we are proud to present Bitches Who Brunch as our spotlight blog for this week’s Contributor Corner.

To give you a feel of what Bitches Who Brunch is all about, take a look at how the describe themselves: “Bitches Who Brunch tells you where to brunch, what to wear, and where to party in New York, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. We publish every week day, starting with Monday’s events calendar and continuing with fashion, party recaps, theatre reviews, easy-and-delicious recipes, and brunch reviews and guides throughout the week.”

In an effort for you to get a glimpse of who Bitches Who Brunch is, I’ve compiled a list of my top 5 favorite posts from their blog, in no particular order.

1.    Delightful Pastries Brunch

While I am a fan of savory foods, my real obsession lies with desserts. That’s what initially caught my attention with this piece. Come to find out, this delicious pastry shop now has a brunch menu, and that’s what the author was going to test out. While it wasn’t about desserts, the article did not disappoint in the slightest! The author, Allison, was very informative about the different meals her and her friends tried, and provided pictures that will make anyone’s mouth water. By the end of the article, I was starving for brunch. If I’m ever in Chicago, I know where I will be stopping.

2.    New York Valentine’s Day Gift Guide 2016

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I figured this article would be rather appropriate to many readers. The author (s) give the reader not only ideas for her, but also him and both of you. While this is a New York based article, I imagine it would be quite easy for anyone to take these wonderful ideas and adapt them to wherever you are in the world! Now you have no excuse for being ill prepared come Valentine’s Day.

3.    Recap: Donut Fest Chicago

Once again, my passion for food led me to this article, and made me want to pack up and move to Chicago ASAP. Donuts are delicious, and anyone who says otherwise is sadly mistaken. This article does exactly what the title suggests; it recapped this donut event that took place in Chicago. It was very informative in letting the reader know what donut shops were there, and left those who weren’t in attendance with a sudden craving for donuts.

4.    Buttermilk Falls Inn in Milton, NY

Stepping away from food, Bitches Who Brunch also writes about my second favorite thing, travel. The author, Ally, was invited to stay at a stunning inn in Milton, NY. Providing the reader with plenty of pictures, it is clear how beautiful this inn really is. Giving great detail about her trip, Ally made me as a reader feel like I was there with her. Along with the amazing views, she also provided pictures and commentary about the food there, which genuinely made my mouth water. The next time I’m in New York, I know where I will be staying.

5.    Winter Wine Club: Stuffed Dates & Pecan Pie Bars

Like this author of this article, Cori Sue, I am no chef in the kitchen. Food is most definitely a passion of mine, but preferably when others have prepared it. Cori Sue gives the reader simple recipes that anyone could follow, while detailing her evening throwing a Winter Wine Club. Her tone is very conversational, and I feel like I’m talking to one of the girls while I read. If I had any doubts about my ability to throw a small get together, my fears have now been quelled.
