Duke Basketball has just lost to 15th ranked Miami 69-80. For the first time in nine seasons, Duke is out of the Top 25 in D1 college Basketball. The Blue Devils started the game going neck-to-neck with the Hurricanes in the first half. Unfortunately, due to a stale offense and a large amount of turnovers (seven in the first half alone), Duke started to lose its momentum to Miami. The Hurricanes had a field day from the outside, Canes senior Angel Rodriguez hit three 3-pointers and had a whopping 11 assists to contribute to the win over the Blue Devils.
Duke continued to collapse against Miami by giving up 30 points in the second half. Although the Blue Devils started to catch up near the end of the second half, the Canes' maintained the lead by until the end, with their guard Sheldon McCellon scoring seven in the last two minutes.
Duke's loss has now taken them out of the Top 25 in Division 1 Basketball. The school also has the worst record in the Atlantic Coastal Conference since their 95-96' season. Miami advances to 5-2 in the ACC.
