Redskins Get the Ball Rolling

Area middle school students and Redskins players are all over the Twitter Mirror today as Redskins and Coca Cola join forces for the Redskins’ Charitable Foundation “Get the Ball Rolling Flag Football Experience.” The 2-year-old program buses in over 120 area middle school students to give them a chance to play their favorite sport alongside their favorite players. They teach the students the importance of a healthy lifestyle, and provide them lunch in the team’s cafeteria afterwards.

Today’s game was held right in Redskins Park with local DC middle school students to attend. The program began specifically to make an impact on the way these kids see themselves and their favorite sports stars. To know that if they work hard enough, they can end up in the same position as those they look up to. Athletes including Robert Griffin III (RG3), Alfred Morris, Houston Bates, and many more came out to coach the anticipated flag football tournament this afternoon.
