Thanksgiving is more than just stuffing your face with all the great food but it’s also about giving back to the less fortunate. With a lot of feed the homeless events and turkey trots and runs, the DMV really showed their support and love for the less fortunate.
The 33nd annual Turkey Chase took place in Bethesda, MD at the YMCA Bethesda-Chase. Their 10K run goals are to “promote the ideals of community service shared by Rotary and YMCA… two if the oldest, most respected service organizations in the world, provide critical support to at-risk youth and families throughout lower Montgomery County and to promote healthy living and social responsibility.” This race benefits charities supported by the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club, YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase scholarships, financial assistance and YMCA Youth and Family Services.
This is the largest race in Montgomery County that offered a two-mile walk/run, a USATF-certified 10 kilometer race and a 50 meter race for all ages. Each registered participant received a shirt and a special prize at the end of the race.
This event was a great way to kick off Thanksgiving Day and bring family and friends together for a good cause before the feast. If you missed it, be sure to catch the Turkey Chase again next year.
