"Levantate" by Electra "Poderosa" Bolotas

There is so much cool talent in the district and Work Crush Wednesday is our way of spotlighting those whose work we're currently drooling over.

This week, we're love-struck by the work of D.C. based artist, Electra "Poderosa" Bolotas.

Her work is super colorful, expressive, and reflective of her travels to places such as Brazil, Peru, Japan, and of course her native Greece. Recurring themes like the minotaur, Persephone, playful demons and monsters, and pomegranates often show up in her work- which she doesn’t only limit to paper and canvas.

Poderosa has taken to the streets and walls of Greece and the district to leave a little piece of her world for others to enjoy. If you’re lucky enough (and follow her on Instagram) she often leaves small canvases around the city as part of Free Art Friday D.C.
