Washington's football team gives back

With Thanksgiving just a couple days away, people are remembering the reason for the holiday. Washington's football team partnered with Capital Area Food Bank and the Faith Based Collaborative Outreach Group to give out turkeys, boxed of stuffing, and many other thanksgiving meal items to more than 200 families in the Suitland area.

Washington’s Safety Dashon Goldson came up with this idea and recruited nine other players to help his vision come to life including corner-back Dashaun Phillips and free safety DeAngelo Hall.

The off-field initiative brought out many people in the community such as Prince George’s County Council Member Karen R. Toles and Superintendent Kevin Maxwell.

Giving back this holiday is not only important but effective in reminding us to be thankful for everything we have.

That is why we here at Made in the District will be joining forces with Feed it Forward DC in the same effort to feed the less fortunate this Thanksgiving holiday. Join us this Sunday, from 11:30 to 3:00 pm for “Serving Up Hope,” our very own Thanksgiving Initiative at Turner Elementary School. Make a difference in another family's life this holiday season.
