The Washington Wizards teamed up with members of the military community Monday as an early Veterans Day celebration.
The Wizards held a special practice Monday before their game against the Oklahoma City Thunder as a part of the NBA's annual Hoops for Troops week by hosting members of the military community for the team's annual Salute to the Stars program.
Following the practice, players and coaches from the Wizards and the Mystics joined members of the military community to give back to the District. They put together 1,000 "breakfast to go" meals to benefit Cup of Joe, a program run by Catholic Charities. The meals went to help men and women staying overnight in one of eight shelters or transitional shelters.
The Wizards play the Orlando Magic Friday in the Verizon Center at 7 p.m.
