DC United’s season has officially come to an end as they lost 1-0 to The New York Red Bulls on Sunday. The home team initially struggled to make it to the playoffs after their 5 to 0 loss against Columbus Crew on October 25th, and have now been completely eliminated.
New York’s forward Bradley Wright-Phillip was the only player to score two minutes into the second half, solidifying the win for the opposing team. This game was not the first playoff loss United suffered against The Red Bulls, and the rivalry against the two teams is now more alive than anything. The MLS Conference Finals continue November 22nd for Columbus Crew and New York’s Red Bulls. As for DC United, there’s always hope for next season.
