Almost a year and a half after his big debut,The God Complex, future bounce pioneer GoldLink is dropping his first full-length album. On Nov. 13, L.A. "music culture platform" Soulection will release And After That, We Didn't Talk, the Virginia-based rapper's 11-track LP. GoldLink burst onto the scene in mid-2014 with The God Complex and his signature future bounce sound, which, as City Paper contributor Julian Kimble wrote, is "the experimental intersection of hip-hop and dance music.
According to a release, GoldLink worked with Demo Taped, Galimatias, Medasin, Tom Misch, and his longtime collaboratorLouie Lastic on production of the album, which "sees GoldLink juxtaposing his traditional flow with more vocal melodies creating the next iteration of himself—GoldLink 2.0." Whatever version of GoldLink this is, we're excited.
In just a year, the success of The God Complex led to GoldLink packing U Street Music Hall to selling out the 9:30 Club. If And After That, We Didn't Talk is half as successful, he might be selling out Echostage by spring.
