John Wall led the Washington Wizards to an 88-87 victory Wednesday night with a shot that put the Wizards up by one in the last minute during their season opener against the Orlando Magic.
Wall hit a floater with 12.7 seconds left in the game, scoring 22 points with five blocks and six assists. Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 24 points.
The Wizards escaped with the win after a contested call by referees in the last few seconds of the fourth, which resulted in the Magic getting the ball back with three seconds left and a missed shot by Nikola Vucevic.
This is the first time the Wizards have started a season 1-0 since 2009. The Wizards ended the pre-season with a record of 4-3.
The Wizards go on to play the Milwaukee Bucks Friday night at 8 p.m. in the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Stay tuned to MITD for more Washington sports news.
